A TOUCH OF SPICE

Good Morning!

Today we are going to this beautiful film: The Seasoning of Life. De Tassos Boulmetis, released in 2003, shows the relationship of Turkish Vasilis (Tassos Bandis), owner of a spice shop in Istanbul, with his grandson. Vasilis, patriarch of a family that has Greek roots, transmits to his little grandson Fanis (Markos Osse), his ancestral knowledge about the mystery of spices.

By introducing him to the poetry that exists in good eating, he awakens the boy's passion for cooking. Vasilis teaches his grandson that foods can awaken much more than taste in people who know how to appreciate good cuisine. For him, senses such as smell, touch, vision and even hearing, configure essential dimensions for the total appreciation of dishes well done. More than that, it shows that salt itself is decisive not only for food, but also for life.

In his empirical philosophy, he points out that the word "astronomy" is inserted in "gastronomy", thereby pointing out that the magic of cooking is as deep and powerful as the magic of the universe. Dogmatic, he explains that right or wrong recipes can influence, for better or for worse, mood and relationships between people.

While you watch the trailer, access the soundtrack and let your soul merge with the beauty of these songs, even because, sometimes, we need a few moments of introspection to dive into ourselves.
